Welcome!

This is the place for all the resources you could want for the CB motorcycles that were made by Honda in the late 70s and early 80s.  Although the title of the site is CB900/1000, this site is open to all relatives of the Customs which include the F, K, and FZ models from the same era.  If you have any suggestions concerning the site, additions to the site, or trouble navigating any part of the site, please contact the author, Bob Johnson, at rwjohns@tnics.com.

Boy, that took a while! New site now coming together at www.cb900custom.net. We're getting all the pictures and stuff moved over - many are there already. The new site allows you to directly submit pics and stories (as opposed to emailing them) so go ahead and submit updated photos, etc. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Update: We're currently working on construction of a new site to be up soon. Thanks to all for the questions and pics. We're putting them into new site. Stay tuned!

I have handed administration duties of the website off to Bob Johnson.  Please be patient with Bob and I as we go through the transition of duties.

6-23-01

Added the CB Rally section.  Changed the Brochure section to Publications and separated out all of the brochures and article separately within the publications section.

6-17-01

Pictures from the Harrisburg Rally are at the Yahoo Club.  I will put up a page here soon, but for now check out the club.

6-01-01

I added the CB1000C and CB1100F pages from the 1983 Hondaline catalog in the Brochure page.

I discovered today that freeservers now allows me to select whether or not the banner ad appears in the webpage itself or as a separate window.  I changed the banner ad to a window so that you can move it out of the way.  You can close it, but as soon as you click on a new page, the window will appear again.  I find it easiest to just move it to the bottom of my screen so that only the title bar is visible and leave it there.  I hope this makes your surfing time here more enjoyable.

Thanks to an awesome recommendation from Andy, I have added what is quite possibly the best link to a parts house to my links page.  The site (PowerSportsPro) has an online microfiche so that you can look at and find exactly the part you need.  All of the parts are hyperlinked so all you have to do is click and it is added to you shipping cart.  They also have free shipping for orders over $50, and we all know how rarely we go to the parts counter and walk away spending less that $50.  This is going to be my new source for OEM parts!

It's official, the CB owners are finally going to rally!  This summer we're all gathering to congratulate each other on owning such great bikes.  Ride it or haul it, either way show it off!  Click on the link at the top of this page or email to the organizers of this event if you have questions.  See all of you there!

I got energetic again.  If a person has pictures and/or a description of their bike in the Owners and Pictures section it is now linked from the owner's directory to the spot in the Owners and Pics section.  This completes the reorganization of the site.  Keep the suggestions and additions coming!

1-15-01

I made some subtle changes.  I removed all the frames to try to eliminate some problems with viewing.  I also broke the owners and pics section down into four groups, arranged in alphabetical order.  Having all of the pictures on one page was getting quite large and took a long time to download if viewed on a slower connection.  We are now up to 32 people with pictures of their bikes on this site and 127 people worldwide on the owners' directory.  AWESOME!

11-7-00

Things seem to be running OK.  I've had a few changes to the site, primarily the addition of Van's CB1000 in the pictures section.  I'm kinda sluggish on improvements right now and will probably remain that way through the holidays, but keep the suggestions and additions coming.  This is site is for all of us and the more of us that are represented here, the better this site becomes!

10-7-00

Well, it appears as though a full deletion and re-upload of the site helped things a bit.  I noticed that Netscape Navigator only shows one banner, whereas Microsoft's Internet Explorer shows four.  Nevertheless, I'm not incredibly pleased with the changes that freeservers has made.  I'm still working on it though.

10-5-00

It was brought to my attention that the page was difficult to view.  I visited the site to discover that the banner ads now appear on EVERYTHING, there are 3 pop-up windows, and the server is adding things to my website that I do not want to have there.  Therefore, I will be looking for yet another new home for the CB Custom website.  Also, if you are having trouble seeing everything at once on your screen, consider turning your resolution up to at least 800x600 pixels.  Any resolution less than that will have difficulty viewing an entire picture of someone's bike.

8-16-00

Updated the directory again -- We are now up to 100 entries!  I screwed up and lost all the links to the person's pictures from the directory, I will fix that later.  Those of you that sent me pictures in the last week, please be patient.  The weather is nice here and I've been out enjoying on the bike instead of hanging around inside.

8-9-00

Whew!  You guys are keeping me busy.  The directory went up and the flood gates opened -- it's great!  Keep the entries and pictures coming!  I'm going to either rework or get rid of the Owners and Pics page and instead link to the person's bio and/or picture(s) directly from the directory.  You won't get a thumbnail preview of the person's bike, but one big page of pics is getting large and will soon start taking a long time to view.  Plus, I will save server space by doing away with the thumbnails.  I'd like to get to it tonight, but the weather is going to be good for the next few days, so I'm goin' ridin'.  Look for some changes late next week.

8-6-00

I added a tabular list of all the responses to Cole Mikesell's post on the CB message board concerning where everyone was located at and what model of bike they have.  You can get to it by clicking on the "Directory" button on the left side of this page.  In a week or two, I plan to put up a clickable map with the locations of everyone on it so that we can click to see the person's bike if they have pictures.  Thanks for the great idea and all your help, Cole!

8-5-00

Well, I once again changed servers for my website.  20m.com couldn't get their problems solved, so I moved it to a sister server of 20m.com, freeservers.com.  So far so good.

7-31-00

I had some problems with the uploading of pages to the site.  20m.com temporarily ran out of space on the server that my site is on and therefore I couldn't upload anything.  Everything is up and running for now as far as I can see.  Look soon for a map of the US with locations of all the CB900 and CB1000 custom owners who responded to the post at the message board.  I'm open to suggestions for the FAQ section as well.  I'm adding to the FAQ section as I see common issues coming up in the message board.

5-22-00

Moved the site to 20m.com for additional storage space and ease of uploading and so forth.  Sorry you have to look at the banner at the top of the page all the time.

4-30-00

Added the FAQ section and removed the Parts / Tech section.

Added the second brochure in the brochure section

4-22-00

I've open my site up to include CB900C models now as well and added the history section

There's a shortage of good information on the 1983 Honda CB1000 Custom on the internet.   The purpose of this page is to provide a collection of pictures, info, and contacts for anyone looking for more info on this motorcycle.  If you have pictures that you would like to display but don't have a website, or even just want a link to your pictures or email address, just send an email to rwjohns@tnics.com and I'll post it here.
