How about this 1981 CB900 Custom, 37,000 miles, and runs like new.  You gotta love the classic look of this little cruiser.  Lots of muscle and handles well for a completely stock set up. I love this bike!

I bought this bike a couple months ago and I know I paid too much for it, but I just had to have it. My last bike was a CB400 4 cylinder I bought in 1975. I have been off bikes for about 20 years and am just getting back riding now. I live outside of Dallas, TX, so there's lots of open space to ride. this is a lot heavier than the 400 back in '75, but is it ever sweet and smooth. Had 32K miles on it when I bought it and I'm pushing 33K now.  Planning a 3 day trip with a buddy over Labor Day weekend into the hills and mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

"I picked her up six years ago from a scientist at JPL labs here in Pasadena, California. He had broken his collar bone in a bicycle accident and didn't want anything to do with "two wheels" anymore, besides the CB had been sitting in a shed under a tarp for almost ten years!  She had just a little over 9,000 miles on her at the time, everything was there including the Hondaline Fairing and Hondaline travel Trunk, shop manual, helmets, two-way communicators, Bike cover... The guy wanted $600 for her, (I thought then WHAT A GREAT DEAL!), but since she wouldn't start he reduced the price to $300! (needless to say I couldn't write the check fast enough!).

I trailered her home, cleaned out the carbs and took her for a ride that weekend! I've put about $3,000 in replacement parts and accessories (All the rubber was shot!) into her over the years and added 20,000 more miles to the odometer. Tweaked the carbs with a K&N kit, added a Jardine 4-1 exhaust, found Vetter Saddlebags and Travel trunk, Hondaline lowers for the fairing, Progressive shocks and springs front and rear. She looks a little bit like a "Junk Yard" special right now with all the mismatched body colors. I'll be sending more pictures after I repaint her this month during my Christmas vacation. I really enjoy riding this bike!"

Update 08/2001

I was looking through your website to see if there was anything new and saw I hadn't sent you any updated photos of my 900. I finished the paint job back in May, (finally). and have added a J&M CB/Intercom that I found for $20. It's nice to be able to communicate with other riders while on a weekend run, not to mention my wife doesn't have to yell for me to hear her anymore! The bike is running great and has 32,000 miles on it now! Most people don't believe it is a 22 year old motorcycle!

"...here's mine, had the 900C when they came out in '80.  I didn't have a bike for 10 years when I picked this bike up this summer [1998].  It's about as fast as I can handle.  Big fun."

"I picked this bike up 2 years ago and it was in almost factory cond. I have added the custom seat and a new windscreen. The previous owner had the saddle bags up in his attic. After installing a new battery and tires all it needed was a good cleaning."

While in Junior/Senior High School (1979-1984) I used to drool over the Honda CB Customs (along with the Suzuki GL's, Kawasaki LTD's and Yamaha's "Midnight Specials" -- the most beautiful bikes of all times (IMHO). My senior year all I could afford was an '81 CM400C. Since then I've owned a GS550E, and CB700SC and, well... I finally got my hands on a *Mint* '82 CB750C with only 11k miles this summer and I feel 16 y/o all over again. I love it. Yes, I'll probably invest in another bike that's faster & sportier, but I don't think I'll ever find one that's more "dependable" than a Honda CB inline-four.

Wow! two paint schemes!  I love the pearl and emerald.

"I finally have it the way I want it. It has taken me 3 months. I used to have a '82 CB900 Custom, I sold it in '92, and regretted it from the day I sold it. I waited 8 yrs. and finally found what I wanted. The man I bought it from had just put a new tank and side covers on it. He also had the old set he gave me. I had them both painted. I can change colors when the mood hits me. It has 23000 miles on it and it runs beautifully. I put a set of Progessive shocks on the rear after the pics were taken. It runs and handles like a dream. I am 53 yrs. old and love to ride. I plan on keeping this one til I leave this world. I live in eastern Ky., and these hills and curves give it a workout.  The 2 colors are Wine/Gold and Emerald Green Pearl/Silver . Keep it in the wind."

"This beauty has been a daily ridden bike since it's purchase in 82. Just ride 'em and maintain 'em then they won't break."

This is my 1983 CB1000C. I love this bike but am looking for a short sissy bar with a pad or the luggage rack combo that I have seen on 900s. Anyone got one. I'm the third owner of this bike and it is in immaculate condition with just over 14,500 miles. To my knowledge the bike has never been wrecked or laid down but has probably tipped over once or twice. (scratches on the engine plates). I plan to have these covers chromed anyway in the future if I keep it. This bike is located in Augusta, GA and is driven as much as 50 miles a week during the riding months. Yep, everyone has their price and mine is $3,500. If you will pay that for a gem of a bike its yours. I just did the first adjustment to the timing chain adjusters and the motor is quiet and runs like a new one. Still has the factory break in sticker and others on it. Tires are like new and this bike really turns heads and sounds unbelievable. Ran into a Kawasaki Ninja the other day and he couldn't hang with the acceleration this bike has. This bike also has the H/L range and works wonderfully. Some don't like it but I love it. In Hi I treat it like a sport bike and in L it rides/runs just like the best cruisers. 3500rpm at near 70mph. Wow it is nice. Air Shocks, front and rear disk brakes (new), I could go on and on. My father in law just came over with his 2002 VT1100 shadow spirit and he couldn't even park next to me. He had one sprocket in front, I have two, he had drum brakes in the rear I have disk. His didn't have a tach mine does. There truly is no comparison to some of the bikes today and how they did them back in the early 80's.

"I've had this bike for about 3 years. Bought it for $600.00, put another $1400.00 into it. It had only 10K on the clock, now has about 17K and has been 100% reliable. It was the subject of a letter to "Motorcycle Cruiser" magazine, which was published in an issue last year."

I would enjoy communicating with other owners. I am looking for an engine guard and better windshield. Advice on the best stuff and good sources are appreciated, as well as any wisdom to be imparted on CB1000's. I'm pretty busy most times, but I like to hear from folks about most things, so hook up with me at billocom@yahoo.com

I enjoy your fantastic site. The pictures and commentary from all the owners is absolutely the best! My brother is my ride buddy. He and I closely discussed this bike before I purchased it. Then I found your site and sent him the link. We were blown away by the specs, doc's, and great links you have. We were so SOLD after connecting to you! You are probably a really nice guy. I commend you. And then, well, riding the bike? Ahem....

I'm not even going to start in on how happy I am with this incredible creation. Just look for me out along the winding back roads and low rolling hills of lush Pennsylvania countryside. I'm the one with the bugs in his teeth from smiling all the time while pondering ever deeper mysteries...

Here is my baby, a 1980 cb900 c with just a little over 20,000 miles on it. She is ridden often and loved very much. The 4x2 exaust gives her a deep throaty sound. Not to loud unless you are over 5000 rpm. This is where the bike comes alive and if ya ain't holding on, then you'll get a first class road rump ride and a view of her as she disappears off into the sunset riderless.
